Loving the Unlovable has 5 stars on Amazon. It’s also listed on Barnes and Noble’s website. It’s available in New Zealand through Mighty Ape and in the Netherlands through Bol. I’m excited about how many stores have opted to pickup my book. In addition, some autographed copies are in local Little Free Libraries.
Things are moving along with the non-fiction book. The editing is mostly done. The formatting is a work in progress. I met with the graphic designer and she is excited about working on the project. We have some colors and ideas going. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with. I need to purchase the ISBN numbers and send in the copyright info before the book goes to beta readers. It’s on track for a spring debut.
My mystery novel is coming along at a slower pace. It’s hard to keep all the clues straight and remember who knows what. Another author was talking about a different way to plot so that the story threads don’t get so mixed up. She called it a plot grid. It involves creating a grid, or in my case, a spreadsheet, with a row for each time period, and a column for each story thread. Now I have a clear view of the murder plot, the character development for the main characters, and the killer’s character arc. With this genre, I want to have a detailed outline so when I go to write I don’t have to go back to see who knows what. I can just move forward and write.
Submitting to academic journals has caught my attention in the last few weeks. Since I enjoy research and writing academic papers, it seems like something I might be good at. While I wait for the graphic designer, I’m dusting off some old papers and evaluating which might be a good fit for publication. The ones that might work are getting updated and polished. I’m also looking into which journals I might want to submit to.
