It took a year of editing and fussing, but Loving the Unlovable is now available for purchase on Amazon. I can’t tell you how excited I am to have reached this milestone. I decided to self-publish the book for a few reasons. When I queried the book, agents weren’t interested. Romance novels have a reputation for being hard to sell to publishers. It’s the biggest genre in the industry, but that also means it has the most competition.
The longer I waited for responses from agents, the more I wondered if I really wanted to give up control. Traditional publishers will set determine the title, the book cover, and may require edits to suit their audience. It makes sense, but it’s also why there are so many books with similar titles and covers. I like my story the way it is.
So I jumped into self-publishing head first and researched formatting and book covers. I like the way the book cover turned out. I used the book cover template from Amazon and Canva to create the cover. A combination of Amazon guidelines and Youtube videos taught me how to format the book in Microsoft Word.
I’m happy with the way it came out. I created an Amazon author page, and put together some marketing materials. Now for the next scary step. Reading my reviews. Ack! Paperback and Kindle versions of the book are available on Amazon. To read more about my writing journey, click on the writing category of my blog.
