I know you all come here to read about the amusing things that happen in NancyLand. But it’s not all happy times. It’s been a long few weeks. I’ve stepped away from working on The Nothing Girl until I have a clearer head. Instead, I’m taking a break from structured work to dapple in some pantsing.
Pantsing simply means that I’m writing a story without a firm outline. The benefit of pantsing is that the story can go anywhere because there is no end goal. There are no plot points that I have to hit. The downside, is that you don’t know where the story is going so it’s harder to know where you should insert foreshadowing or clues for the reader. That part will come in the editing.
I’m finding that I like pantsing when I’m writing for the sake of writing. As a writer, I always have scenes running through my head. Some of them have nothing to do with each other, which makes them interesting. Who knows, maybe I’ll publish some of them as story starters for other writers. I wonder if anyone would like that? Hmmm…
Loving the Unlovable is going to be published soon. The editing is done, and the cover is ready. I’m working through the formatting now. I still need to purchase the ISBN numbers and then decide how I will sell it. Amazon and Ingram Spark are my top two choices at the moment. I thought I would have published this by now, but forward progress is progress.
